Manufacturing & QC

History

We first engaged with our keystone manufacturer in 2009 and this relationship has continued to strengthen to this day. We leveraged our respective strengths and have grown our businesses in parallel.

Established in 2005, the factory has expanded considerably over the last 15+ years. It currently covers well over 30,000 sq.m and employs over 300 staff, including 20 engineers dedicated to product development and optimising manufacturing processes. The R&D team has sucured more than 50
patents internationally.

They are true pioneers in commercial and industrial LED lighting, being the first manufacturer to bring LED tubes to the market in 2005 and the originators of the 'UFO' style circular SMD LED high bay that has since become almost the industry standard configuration.

Market Position

The factory manufactures commercial and industrial lighting products for international markets. The European OEM and ODM markets represent the largest portion of their revenue, with this business accounting for over 60% of the $25+ million USD turnover.

Supplying into markets all around the world requires compliance with a wide range of specific requirements, and therefore products are certified by international bodies/schemes such as UL, VDE, TUV, DLC, RoHS and SAA.

Capability

As their scale and international reach would suggest, the factory has invested heavily in equipment  and systems, and has adopted world best practices in managing thier processes. They operate on Lean
Manufacturing principals and have ISO9001:2008 quality managment certification.

The factory has a full range of manufacturing and testing capabilities, including:

  • PCB 'pick-and-place' robots for LED array assembly
  • Power supply/driver electronics assembly
  • Semi-automated final assembly lines
  • Automated pre-despatch 'age-testing'
  • Integrating sphere and Goniophotometer test

Assured Quality

As mentioned above, all finished products are subject to fully powered-up 'age testing' prior to packaging and despatch, and this critical quality check virtually eliminates 'dead on arrival' faults when installed.

Ecopoint's QC Manager is based at the factory, and inspects every shipment prior to it leaving the en-route to New Zealand.
